Klockner Booster Station

Hopewell, New Jersey

In 1989, Buck, Seifert & Jost, Inc. (BS&J) was retained by Trenton Water Works (TWW) to study the water supply requirements of the Hopewell area and to determine the methods to serve this area by an extension of the City's distribution system. A comprehensive report prepared by BS&J summarized the results of our studies and presented a recommended master plan to serve as a design basis for improvements.

Consequently, BS&J was selected by TWW to perform detailed design and construction phase engineering services to upgrade the existing Klockner booster station and raise an existing water storage tank by 24 feet. These were completed in 1995 within the budget price indicated. Several distribution system pipelines were upgraded according to the master plan.

In 1990, BS&J was requested to review water supply requirements to a new housing development consisting of more than 1,250 residential units. The new water service was extended from the present TWW distribution system. Computer model studies were conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the water main extension and its long term impact on the future growth of the area. The water distribution system extension for the area was designed based on these studies, including a booster station, a water storage tank, and the water main extension. BS&J also obtained the required permits from the applicable regulatory agencies.
