SUEZ Water New Jersey Inc. – Sliplining 24 inch Cast Iron with 18 inch HDPE at CSX Railroad Crossing (April 2019)

Posted on: April 26, 2019

A 24 inch diameter cast-iron water main crossing beneath the CSX railroad
tracks in Dumont, NJ was found to be leaking and required repair. BS&J was
retained to provide design services, permit acquisition, and construction
inspection services. An innovative design re-purposing the 24 inch cast-iron main as a casing pipe, and slip-lining with a new 18 inch diameter HDPE pipe was proposed, approved and implemented. The project successfully resolved the leak while avoiding disturbance to the CSX railroad tracks.
