New Jersey American Water – Raritan Millstone Water Treatment Plant (April 2014)

Posted on: April 16, 2014

Construction began on the improvements to Sedimentation Basin No. 4 by Northeast Remsco Construction, Inc. at the Raritan Millstone Water Treatment Plant. Working together with NJAW and Gannett Fleming, BS&J prepared the design and is providing construction services for the replacement of the flocculators, sludge collectors, tube settlers, related baffle walls, basin cleaning improvements, and new LED basin lighting. The depth of the tube settlers is being increased from 24 inches to 36 inches, which required the design and construction of a new tube settler support structure within the basin, which together with the tube settlers are being fabricated and furnished by Brentwood Industries, Inc. The deeper tube settlers will enhance the performance of the sedimentation basin. The lighting directed over the tube settlers allows operators to assess performance of the basin and employs the latest efficient LED fixture technology. The construction of the improvements at Basin No. 3 will follow.
